Nature & Wildlife
From birds to plants, Smedley supports a large array of wildlife within it's boundaries.

Over a mile of Crum Creek flows through the park and brings the area to life. The banks of the creek are often full of water plants, 12 species of amphibians such as salamanders and frogs, plus turtles in pools and floodplains, ducks, and fish. Those interested in fishing have the opportunity to catch over 20 types of fish, including an abundance of trout, sunfish, and perch.

On dry land, white tailed deer, foxes, squirrels, chipmunks, and opossums are common. Bird watchers can spend days admiring the countless types of birds that fly through the skies of Smedley. Some of the most notable being Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, hummingbirds, and woodpeckers.

Over at the Penn State Extension in the park, the Master Gardeners have been supporting seven separate gardens in Smedley since the 1990's. These gardens are for the education and enjoyment of the community, are the result of years of hard work
